Register for a FREE one-day summer camp for high school freshmen through rising seniors where you can explore pharmacy alongside Duquesne's School of Pharmacy faculty and students. All days run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Duquesne University campus in downtown Pittsburgh.
You'll learn about the different job pathways pharmacists can work, explore a day-in-the-life of a pharmacist, and experience:
SimMan Patient Simulation Demonstration
Work with one of the state-of-the-art SimMan patient simulators in the Giant Eagle Center for Pharmacy Practice with one of the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy Faculty members. SimMan is able to simulate various issues like irregular heartbeat, asthma attack, flu symptoms and much more.
Point-Of-Care Testing & Monitoring
See how point of care testing can be a component of an innovative patient care model. Work with our faculty to conduct tests to see first-hand how pharmacists determine if a patient needs to take the next steps with additional testing for additional patient care.
Pharmacy Compounding Techniques
Practice your compouding skills and create a "compound" in one of the School of Pharmacy's labs under the direction of the School of Pharmacy faculty member.
Pilot Manufacturing Demonstration
See how tablets are made in our fully equipped manufacturing research and development laboratory. Assisted by Duquesne University Faculty and Graduate Students, design a formulation based on quality specifications, and learn about how blending, granulation, compression and coating is used to make a finished product.
